The
hardest thing I've ever done
is keep believing
There's someone in
this crazy world for me
The way that people come and go,
through temporary lights,
My chance may come
and I might never know.
I used to say no promises,
let's keep it simple,
But freedom only helps you say goodbye.
It took a while for me to learn
that nothing comes for free
The price I've paid is high enough for me
I know I need to be in love
I know I've wasted too much time
I know I ask perfection
of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think
that's what I'll find
Here I am with pockets full
of good intentions
But none of them will comfort me tonight
I'm wide awake at 4 a .m. without
a friend in sight
Hanging on a hope, but I'm alright
I know I need to be in love
I know I've wasted too much time
I know I ask perfection
of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think
that's what I'll find
I know I need to be in love
I know I've wasted too much time
I know I ask perfection
of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think
that's what I'll find
Thank you, thank you,
thank you, thank you so much.
Here's another little story about a song.
In 1983, this Spanish singer
came to me in Los Angeles
and said, I'm making an
English album,
my first English album.
I remembered this song
that I'd written with Hal David in 1973,
but Tom Jones had done
and Engelbert Humperdinck
had done it,
and so many people had done it,
I couldn't play him anybody's version,
so I went home and I recorded the
song on a cassette.
And then I went down to the hotel,
picked him up,
on the way to the studio
I said, Julio,
I've just written a brand new
song for you.
Julio Iglesias,
to all the girls I've loved before,
he fell in love immediately, yeah, yeah, so.
