Well this is a wee song
about my boyhood days.
We've all got our faults,
and I'm afraid I originally hail
from Dundee.
Up in Dundee, you know,
you get cheap labour every year.
Kids are kept off school
to go to the tatty houtin'.
Just go to the tatties, I refer to.
Or they go to the berries,
or the rasps, the black currants.
But I never went to the tatties,
nor did I go to the berries,
because we lived no far from Smedley's factory,
and round Smedley's had acres
and acres of pea fields.
So I didn't go to school
to go to the tatties, nor the berries.
I got of six weeks every year
to go peeing.
There we are,
peeing in the green fields of Dundee.
There's a factory on the
outskirts of Dundee
Round it grow the fields of
Smedley's peas
After school they set me free
Every year when I was wee
To pee in the green fields of Dundee
Ah, the highlight of school life was for me,
The six weeks every year they let us pee,
But they fairly drove us daft
before they let us off,
Teaching us to pee in the
green fields out on thee,
Now you might think that anyone can pee,
I wonder what the joy of it could be
They had contests for the best
Man, you had to pass a test
To pee in the green fields over me
It at the peeing that the
girls first caught my ear
I noticed they peed different fae me
Peeing five foot six or so
I peed high whilst they peed low
As we peed in the greenfields
o' Dundee
How my heart soon was lost to Polly the Pea
At the finest little pier in Dundee
We braved all kinds of weather
that we might pee together
To pee in the greenfields o' Dundee
I found happiness in many different ways
Aye, my mind returns
to childhood days
What the kids all think me saft
Why they just stand there and laugh
If I went back for just one last
Day in the green field on me
